Day 17 - Lamb Eye Fillet

I was welcomed to Westmere Butchery with, at first, a sensory intrusion, as the smell of raw meat wafted in and around my sinus cavity. I always find myself surprised by that. And then surprised that I am surprised because I know exactly what to expect.

However good or bad or confusing, it was quickly masked by the second sensory intrusion making its way up my back in the form of goose bumps and then a surge of unexpected relief. Air conditioning? Or perhaps the whole shop is just one massive fridge? Probably. Anyway, it was nice to get out of the 4:17pm swelt, and into a giant refrigerator.

I figured it would be rude to just stand there out of the heat and try to avoid eye contact, so I purchased a selection. Some unidentifiable parts of these dead animals were minced and in a tube with herbs and spices. How creative! Others were chopped straight out of the carcass and put right out on display. Namely, Lamb Eye Fillet.

The images below follow the events of Jonathan, Matt and myself once I returned from the Butcher with the Lamb Eye Fillet and "Zesty Greek" sausages. I was informed that the sausages contain Orange Zest, Ouzo, and were delicious. Sold.

Matt didn't believe I was E.T. so I showed him my glowing fingertip.

Additional sides include fresh Tomato from the garden, Pesto Mushrooms and Garlic Bread.

"Good God damn!" - Matthew Ledingham.
